Gamification Learning: A New Experiential
Learning That is Fun and Engaging
Having a
learning that is also fun and highly engaging would be a life-changing innovation. As a matter of
fact, we already have it in the form of gamification learning. With the rising trend of this type of
learning, it raises another question. Can all kinds of learning be gamified?
Theoretically, every kind of learning can be gamified. However, some subjects or skills may benefit
more from it compared to others, especially those that require high motivation, engagement, and
reinforcement to learn. Gamification learning tends to work better if it provides clear learning
objectives, manageable challenges, a healthy level of competition, immediate feedback to the
players, and allows players to track and analyze their progress.
On the
other side, gamification can be a challenge to develop and the unfamiliar nature may lead to some
trainees experiencing a steep learning curve in the early part of the learning. So, while it might
have worked on some, gamification might not be the best option for learning that demands a deep
understanding of a concept and high empowerment capabilities.
