FWD SpringboardX Pre-Challenge: Equipping Indonesia’s Young Talents with an Exclusive Pre-Event Preparation Program

In the year 2022, from September to October, AMBIZ had the opportunity to collaborate with FWD Insurance, a multinational insurance company established in 2013 to plan, create, and execute an exclusive pre-event called SpringboardX Pre-Challenge. This event served as a supporting program where highly selected candidates who are interested in joining FWD’s main challenge, FWD SpringboardX Student Challenge, were provided with online training, assessment-based grouping, and consultation prior to officially entering the main competition.

This collaboration was inspired by FWD Insurance’s wider strategic goals and vision to change the way people feel about insurance. We were responsible for sourcing as many challenge participants as possible, assigning them to a group based on their AMBIZ Assessment results, planning, and executing several training sessions, tracking the deck creation progress from each group, and ensuring they uploaded the final deck before the deadline.

The Process

We initiated this collaboration by creating a microsite, which served as a one-stop source for candidates to register and access all relevant event information. Additionally, we created and embedded a downloadable project booklet into the microsite to provide more comprehensive details. Simultaneously, we created and distributed campaign contents through various channels, including AMBIZ, FWD Insurance, and external social media platforms, with goals of attracting as many challenge participants as possible.

The registration for SpringboardX Pre-Challenge was open from September 15th, 2022, until September 23rd, 2022, resulted in 57 highly selected challenge participants.

The Challenge Participants Journey

The SpringboardX Pre-Challenge, held from September 29th, 2022, until October 3rd, 2022, consisted of several activities, including FWD SpringboardX Pre-Challenge Training Day, Complex Problem-Solving Workshop, Independent Group Discussions, Deck Submission Day, and Online Presentation Day.

FWD SpringboardX Pre-Challenge Training Day

The FWD SpringboardX Pre-Challenge Training Day was a one-day event consisting of various training sessions with speakers from FWD Insurance and AMBIZ. The sessions were designed to equip challenge participants with the knowledge and skills needed to support them in creating fresh and innovative ideas in response to their selected statement.

Held on September 29th, 2022, FWD SpringboardX Pre-Challenge Training Day covered topics such as Introduction to Insurance Industry & FWD Insurance, Introduction to FWD SpringboardX Student Challenge 2022, Understand Yourself & Others Through AMBIZ Assessment, and People-Centered Design Thinking Training.

The first training session of the day began with an Introduction to Insurance Industry & FWD Insurance by Dwi Ratna Sekarwati, HRBP & Talent Acquisition Senior Manager at FWD Insurance. During this session, the speaker covered various topics including general knowledge related to insurance, financial and insurance goals for all stages of life, types of insurance products, introduction to FWD Insurance as a company, and the available programs to join FWD Insurance Team.

The next training session was Introduction to FWD SpringboardX Student Challenge 2022, delivered by Fajar Ahmadi, Digital Graduate Program at FWD Insurance. This session provided a detailed explanation of the overall program and offered attendees an opportunity to engage in direct discussions with the FWD Insurance representative regarding the event.

Following the Introduction to FWD SpringboardX Student Challenge 2022 session, the training session continued with Understand Yourself & Others through AMBIZ Assessment. This session was delivered by Fitra Annisa, Project Analyst at AMBIZ, and Cindy Natalia Wijaya, Associate for Recruitment & Assessment at AMBIZ. This session aimed to introduce attendees to AMBIZ Assessment’s factors and how it can enhance their understanding of themselves and others. The assessment results played a crucial role in grouping participants for the challenge.

The training day concluded with a People-Centered Design Thinking Training by Sasha Hutabarat, Operations & Service Excellence Manager at FWD Insurance. During this session, the speaker provided an overview of human-centered design, people-centered design, people-centered design tools and application to give attendees insights into the various frameworks, tools, and applications they could utilize.

Complex Problem-Solving Workshop

The second training event, held on September 30th, 2022, was a Complex Problem-Solving Workshop led by Rani Soebijantoro, Founder & Chairwoman at AMBIZ. The workshop provided challenge participants with comprehensive materials and frameworks they could use to create deck solutions related to their chosen statements.

Independent Group Discussion

After receiving training sessions as part of the preparation program and being grouped based on their AMBIZ Assessment results to ensure high compatibility between each team, challenge participants engaged in Independent Group Discussions from September 30th, 2022, to October 2nd, 2022. During this period, they collaborated to develop the most innovative ideas that are doable and feasible to implement, explaining them through written content and data visualization in their deck files.

During this period, they collaborated to develop the most innovative ideas that are doable and feasible to implement, explaining them through written content and data visualization in their deck files.

After three full days of Individual Group Discussions, on October 2nd, 2022, all challenge participants submitted their decks to AMBIZ and FWD Insurance. A total of 11 groups managed to finalize their decks on time and had the opportunity to present their ideas to the judges from FWD Insurance.

Deck Submission Day

Online Presentation Day

On October 3rd, 2022, a total of 11 groups presented their ideas directly to the judges. During this session, the judges, Meirza Anbiya, the Head of People & Culture at FWD Insurance, and Pramesti Yunan, the People & Culture Manager at FWD Insurance, provided valuable insights and feedback that participants could incorporate into their updated and final presentation decks.

Following the online presentation day, all groups were given additional time to finalize their decks. The next step in the SpringboardX Students Challenge was the Offline Presentation for The Top 5 Groups, which took place on October 18th, 2022, where 2 of the 11 groups from the Pre-Challenge were selected to present their ideas to FWD Insurance Indonesia’s higher ups at the FWD Insurance headquarters. This event resulted in one of the 2 selected groups, named Moving Forward, to earn the 1st place in FWD SpringboardX Student Challenge – Indonesia. The Moving Forward team continued their journey to present their ideas and compete with other groups from APAC & Oceania region, where they eventually earned 3rd place.
