Operating Model

When the way the organisation is structured to work no longer matches what the business actually needs to deliver.

Most operating model problems don't announce themselves as operating model problems. They show up as something else: decisions that take too long, functions that can't agree on priorities, a strategy that looks clear at the top but lands inconsistently at the front line. The organisation is working — but against itself.

The root cause is usually that the model was designed for a different version of the business. It made sense when the company was smaller, or before the acquisition, or when the market looked different. Now it's creating friction at every seam — between functions, between the centre and the regions, between what the business says it wants and what the operating structure actually enables.

Redesigning an operating model is straightforward. Making it run is not. Most organisations can produce a new model on paper. The gap is always in the transition — getting people, decisions, and routines to actually operate the new way. That's where we work.

Our Expertise

We work across the full span of operating model change — from the diagnosis of what's broken, through the redesign, to the installation of the new way of working.

Operating Model Diagnosis
Operating Model
Diagnosis

We map how the organisation currently makes decisions, allocates resources, and coordinates work across functions — and identify precisely where the model is producing friction, duplication, or misalignment against what the business strategy requires.

Model Design and Restructuring
Model Design &
Restructuring

We redesign the operating model around the business's actual strategic requirements: how value is created, where decisions need to be made, how functions need to be structured and connected. Practical and executable, not theoretically elegant.

Governance and Decision Architecture
Governance & Decision
Architecture

We define the decision rights, escalation paths, and governance structures that the new model requires — specifying who owns what, at what level, with what authority. Without this layer, a new structure produces the same old decision-making problems.

Transition and Implementation
Transition &
Implementation

We manage the transition from old model to new — sequencing the changes, managing the disruption, and installing the new operating rhythm before we hand over. The goal is continuity of performance through the change, not just completion of the redesign.

What Gets Done

The deliverables that you and your team will receive from AMBIZ.

Operating Model Blueprint

A documented design of the target operating model: structural logic, functional accountabilities, key interfaces, and the rationale behind each design decision — ready to socialise and implement.

Decision Rights Map

A clear specification of who owns what decisions, at what level, with what authority — and how escalations work when ownership is unclear. The foundation for the governance layer.

Transition Roadmap

A sequenced implementation plan covering structural changes, people moves, process redesigns, and capability requirements — with milestones, owners, and a clear view of the critical path.

Operating Rhythm Playbook

The working cadence the new model requires: the right meetings, the right metrics, the right review frequencies — installed and running before AMBIZ hands over.
